IAM 751 motorcycle event raises $10,000 for charity
SEATTLE – Machinists Union District Lodge 751’s 15th annual Puppy Putt motorcycle event raised nearly $10,000 for charity.
The event, held July 9, attracted close to 50 riders, who left from staging areas in Marysville and Lacey and rode to IAM 751’s Seattle Union Hall for an afternoon of food, music and motorcycle-themed fun.
Puget Sound Harley-Davidson dealers were major sponsors again this year, but Puppy Putt is an “all breed” event that’s open to riders of all makes and models of motorcycles, said Terri Myette, the chairwoman of the organizing committee.
“We had great sponsors and great volunteers again this year, and we had a lot of fun raising money for a very worthy cause,” she said.
All proceeds are going to Guide Dogs of America, a registered 501(c)(3) charity that provides service dogs and training in their use free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada.
District 751 is one of the top fundraisers for Guide Dogs of America. Over the past seven years, union volunteers have raised more than $2 million for the charity.
Originally formed in 1935 by hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 32,000 working men and women at 53 employers across Washington and California.
