Spokane Machinists will have a blast for charity
SPOKANE VALLEY — Machinists Union Local Lodge 86 will hold its fourth-annual charity trap shoot on Aug. 20.
The cost is $80 per person, which includes lunch, trophies and door prizes. There will be additional prize drawings for prizes including shotguns, televisions, barbecue grills and tool packages.
To register, call Local 86’s Spokane Union Hall at (509) 534-9690 or e-mail email@example.com.
Last year’s trap shoot attracted more than 80 shooters and raised more than $5,600 for Guide Dogs of America, a California-based charity that provides service dogs and training in their use free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada.
Local 86 is affiliated with Machinists Union District Lodge 751 in Seattle, which is one of the top fundraisers for Guide Dogs of America. Over the past six years, the union has raised more than $2 million for the charity.
Originally formed in 1935 by hourly workers at Boeing, District 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 33,000 working men and women at 53 employers across Washington and California. In Eastern Washington, members are served by a network of local lodges that includes Local 86 in Spokane, Machinists Union Local Lodge 1123 in Grand Coulee and Machinists Union Local Lodge 1951 in Richland.
