IAM 751 a top donor to aerospace scholarship fund
LYNNWOOD — Machinists Union District Lodge 751 was once again one of the top donors to the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance scholarship fund in 2016.
The union gave $5,000 to the PNAA foundation — the fifth year in a row that IAM 751 has donated that amount. PNAA honored the union for its support of the scholarship program at the association’s annual meeting in February.
The union’s donation this year is helping fund scholarships for two students who are studying for careers in aerospace: Karly Harbert at Green River College and Colton Jackson at Renton Technical College.
“Our union has always been supportive of training the workforce of the future,” said IAM 751 Secretary-Treasurer Susan Palmer. “We are proud to make a difference in these students’ lives and help them achieve their dreams in the aerospace industry.”
Originally formed in 1935 by hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 32,000 working men and women at 53 employers across Washington and California.
