Machinists ratify four-year deal with Republic Services
GOLDENDALE — About 150 members of Machinists Union District Lodge 751 working at Republic Services recently approved a new four-year contract.
The workers operate the Roosevelt Regional Landfill in Klickitat County — Washington’s largest — and work at Tri-County Disposal, based in Goldendale.
The new contract includes three general wage increases, plus a $2,000 ratification bonus. The company will maintain current health and welfare benefits and also agreed to pay any pension fund surcharges for the duration of the agreement.
The deal was approved on Nov. 14.
The contract also completed the merger of Roosevelt and Tr-County bargaining units, which had been under separate union contracts. The union members — all members of Machinists Union Local Lodge 1953 — had voted in 2012 to combine under one contract.
Originally formed in 1935 by hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 33,000 working men and women at 52 employers across Washington and California. In Eastern Washington, they are represented by a network of local lodges that includes Local 86 in Spokane, Local 1123 in Wentachee and Local 1951 in Richland.
