Machinists plan 2015 charity horseshoes tournament
RENTON — The 12th annual Shoes for Puppies horseshoes tournament will return to Renton in August.
The cost is $50 per player. Entry forms are available at all Machinists Union District Lodge 751 union halls in Puget Sound.
The tournament is a fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America, the California-based charity that provides service dogs and training in their use free of charge to people who are blind or have impaired vision from across the United States and Canada. Last year’s tournament raised more than $2,000.
IAM Local 751-E is affiliated with IAM District 751, which is the top fundraiser for Guide Dogs of America. Over the past six years, the union has raised nearly $1.8 million for the charity.
Originally formed in 1935 to represent hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 33,000 working men and women at 52 employers across Washington, Oregon and California.
