Union collects 400 pounds of candy for Halloween

CandyDriveSEATTLE — Members of Machinists Union District Lodge 751 across Puget Sound collected more than 400 pounds of candy for the Salvation Army of White Center’s annual Halloween party.

There was enough candy left over for the organization’s annual Christmas Party as well, said Richard McCabe, the IAM 751 business representative who led the candy drive.

One shop at the Boeing Co.’s Everett plant donated close to 150 pounds, McCabe said. “Those union members stepped up and made the holidays a little sweeter for some very deserving children.”

Originally formed in 1935 to represent hourly workers at Boeing, District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 33,000 working men and women at 51 employers across Washington and California.
