Union collects candy for community Halloween party
SEATTLE — Members of Machinists Union District Lodge 751 will once again this year do their part to make Halloween sweeter for the children of the White Center community south of Seattle.
The union is conducting its annual Halloween candy drive. Donations of unopened, individually wrapped candy can be dropped off through Oct. 30 at any IAM 751 union hall in Puget Sound, including the Seattle Union Hall, at 9125 15th Place S.
All the donated candy will be delivered to the Salvation Army of White Center, which hosts an annual Halloween party as a safe alternative for trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.
Last year, District 751 volunteers collected more than 400 pounds of candy, which provided enough candy for the Halloween party with plenty left over for the Salvation Army’s community Christmas party as well.
